Taiwan refused the help of mainland China

This is stated in a statement by the Taiwan Committee for Mainland China Affairs.

China has offered Taiwan assistance in connection with the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that occurred the day before. Zhu Fenglian, the official representative of the Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China for Taiwan Affairs, made a statement of readiness to help.

The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Committee thanked for the offer, but said there was no need for assistance. The island's authorities noted that they took note of China's concern about the incident and condolences, the Taiwanese portal "Lianhe Xinwenwan" writes.

The earthquake occurred on April 3 in the water area of the city of Hualien, it became the strongest in the last 25 years. According to Taiwan's emergency services, 7 people were killed and more than 730 were injured. Several buildings have been destroyed in the city, and about 77 residents are locked in their homes.
