The Chinese Foreign Ministry called unacceptable US sanctions against Chinese companies due to cooperation with the Russian Federation

This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning.

The possible imposition of sanctions became known on February 19. A member of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Jerry Connolly, in an interview with CNBC, said that the States are considering the possibility of imposing restrictions against Chinese companies that allegedly help Russia with the supply of goods necessary for conducting its own.

Commenting on this statement, Mao Ning noted China's right to carry out normal cooperation with countries around the world. The republic has always opposed unilateral sanctions that have no basis in international law and are not authorized by the UN Security Council, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed.

According to the politician, China will continue to take the necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises. As for the Ukrainian issue, the PRC has always adhered to an objective and fair position on it and advocated the promotion of peace negotiations. The republic did not observe the fire from afar and did not take advantage of the opportunity to benefit, Mao Ning said.
