The city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island held over 1.1 thousand conferences, forums, fairs and exhibitions in the first quarter of 2023.

According to the publication, approximately 230 thousand people attended these events in January - March, 19 of them had 1 thousand participants. "We have had a lot of orders over the past couple of months, and there will be a busy schedule in May," Guo Wei, a representative of the Hongshulin International Exhibition Center, commented.
He clarified that in March and April there was a lot of work for industry representatives to organize exhibitions, conferences and events in Sanya. "We have already started preparing for the June events," Guo Wei added.
As the Department of Commerce of Sanya commented, the city authorities pay great attention to the fact that there are many exhibitions and forums, and closely monitor the quality of their organization. "We will provide even more significant support to this area of activity, improve the image of exhibition brands, the level of their internationalization and digitalization, create a more optimal atmosphere for events, deepen cooperation and train professional specialists," the agency said.
The local authorities noted that intensive work in this direction "will help to create an international center for consumption and tourism [in Sanya]."
Exhibition activity is one of the dynamically developing industries of Hainan. According to the forecast of the provincial commerce department, its scale will constantly increase, and by 2025 the sector's revenues will exceed 60 billion yuan (about $9.4 billion).
