An earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred on Wednesday evening with an epicenter on the border of Kyrgyzstan and China, which was felt by residents of Alma-Ata.

This was reported by the "Seismological experimental and methodological expedition" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.

The press service of the Department of Emergency Situations of the city explained that measures are being taken to identify possible consequences of the earthquake.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center, the earthquake was magnitude 5.7, the epicenter of the tremors was located 100 km northwest of Aksu District (PRC) with a population of about 535 thousand people. The hearth lay at a depth of 30 km., writes "TASS".
