Xi Jinping to attend G20 and APEC summits

Chinese President Xi Jinping intends to take part in the summits of the Group of Twenty (G20) and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC).

This is stated in a statement published on Friday by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying.
As follows from the message, Xi Jinping will visit the Indonesian island of Bali from November 14 to 17 to participate in the G20 summit, and from November 17 to 19 he will pay a visit to Thailand, where he will take part in the APEC leaders' meeting.
The Chinese President plans to meet with US President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron on the sidelines of the G20 and APEC.
"On the sidelines of [the summits] Xi Jinping will hold bilateral meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, US President Joe Biden, Senegalese President Macky Salem, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez and leaders of other states," the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
China during Xi Jinping's meeting with Biden in Bali will be set to normalize relations with the United States, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said. "First of all, we will strive to ensure that Sino-American relations return to normal," he said at a briefing, answering a question from a Western journalist about what Beijing expects from the upcoming meeting of the leaders of the two countries.
Zhao Lijian clarified that Beijing intends to maintain relations with Washington exclusively "on an equal and mutually beneficial basis, based on the principles of mutual respect." "We will defend our sovereignty, state security and national interests," he stressed.
"The stable development of Sino-American relations corresponds to the interests of both countries, and all countries of the world community are interested in this," the official representative of the Foreign Ministry summed up.
As the White House announced on Thursday, Biden and Xi Jinping will meet on November 14 in Bali on the sidelines of the G20 summit. The G20 summit will be held on November 15-16, the APEC summit on November 16-19, writes TASS.
