This is stated in the report presented on Thursday at the meeting of the CPC Politburo PC, chaired by the Secretary General of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping.
"During the meeting, the need to adhere to the policy of a dynamic zero tolerance approach to COVID-19 was stressed," the Xinhua news agency quoted the report as saying. The PC of the CPC Politburo also pointed out in the document the need to "focus efforts on combating the epidemic in key areas, take more decisive and firm measures to overcome difficulties," and "also restore the normal course of production and way of life as soon as possible."
During the meeting, it was noted that the coronavirus pandemic continues, and new outbreaks of the disease are emerging in China. The situation with the prevention and control of COVID-19 remains difficult, the virus may become more active in the coming winter and spring, the report says.
China has been overwhelmed by another powerful wave of coronavirus in recent weeks, now almost 30 times more infected people are being treated in medical institutions than a year ago. According to the State Committee on Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China, over the past day, doctors have identified more than 9 thousand new cases - 2.6 times more than exactly a week ago.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, the Chinese authorities have proclaimed a zero tolerance policy for COVID-19. In the event of a local outbreak in cities, the government imposes lockdowns or other restrictions on population movements, and also conducts several rounds of testing of all residents. All persons staying from abroad are placed in mandatory quarantine for a period of 10 days or more, writes TASS.
