Chinese pandas went to Qatar

0406e5801020Two pandas were sent from China to Qatar as part of research cooperation.

On October 18, a convoy with two large pandas - Sihai and Jingjing - left the base of the Chinese Center for the Protection and Study of Large Pandas in Sichuan Province (Southwest China). Two bamboo bears are going to Qatar on a special plane. This event marks the development of Sino-Qatari cooperation in the field of protection and study of large pandas, and will also mark the beginning of China's "panda cooperation" with the Middle East region.
China and Qatar have made thorough preparations for the trip. More than a month ago, the Chinese Center for the Protection and Study of Large Pandas quarantined Sihai and Jingjing and conducted a medical examination. Pandas are doing well now. The Chinese side has repeatedly sent teams of specialists to Qatar to conduct briefings at the panda location. In addition, China helped the Qatari side to form a professional team on panda maintenance, and also provided supplies of bamboo, the basis of the diet of large pandas.
As reported, in May 2020, China and Qatar signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of protection and study of large pandas in order to further develop international cooperation in this area and promote measures to preserve endangered species and protect biological diversity in the two countries, RIA Novosti writes.
