According to the ministry, on Thursday, a forty-degree heat wave will be recorded in some areas of Central and Eastern China.
On the afternoon of August 18, the air will warm up to 35-39 degrees in the cities of central subordination of Chongqing and Shanghai, Anhui, Guangdong, Guizhou, Sichuan, Fujian, Hubei, Hunan, Henan, Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shandong, Shaanxi, as well as in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In some places, the temperature will exceed 40 degrees.
On August 12, China announced a red heat level for the first time this year, and the danger level has not decreased in recent days. Meteorologists recommended that citizens avoid prolonged exposure to the open air.
In China, there are three levels of warning in connection with the onset of heat - yellow (more than 35 degrees), orange (more than 37 degrees) and red (more than 40 degrees). According to Chinese law, when exceeding the 40-degree mark, it is prohibited to work outdoors, writes TASS.
