This was reported on Sunday by the Xinhua news agency, citing local authorities.
74 counties of the province were in the disaster zone as a result of the last wave of torrential rains from June 16 to 21. The authorities were forced to evacuate more than 300 thousand people from flooded areas.
Floods caused by heavy rains caused damage to agricultural crops on an area of about 150 thousand hectares. Direct economic damage is estimated by the authorities at 6.79 billion yuan (about $1.01 billion).
Heavy downpours also hit the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China this week, disrupting the normal life of over 3.7 million people.
