Xi Jinping urged BRICS countries to fight unilateral sanctions

62b47446ae5ac926851046f4Chinese President Xi Jinping, speaking at the BRICS summit on Thursday, called on countries to fight unilateral sanctions, and also called on the international community to abandon the cold War mentality.

"We must stand up for honesty and justice, and help ensure that the international community is truly multilateral. We must protect the international order, the core of which is the UN and international law, we must abandon the mentality of the cold War and the confrontation of the blocs," the Chinese president said.
He called on the BRICS countries to oppose unilateral sanctions, as well as their abuse. "Thus, the big family of the "community of the common destiny of mankind" will outstrip a small group of hegemons," Xi Jinping added.
The two-day 14th BRICS summit under the chairmanship of China began work on Thursday in the format of a videoconference. The summit is attended by the heads of the countries of the association - Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa. The summit is chaired by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
