Ecuador's President thanked China for helping flood victims

The Chinese Embassy in Quito donated a batch of household appliances for flood victims. The ceremony was attended by the President of Lasso, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ecuador Juan Carlos Holguin and the Mayor of Quito Santiago Guarderas.
Mr. Lasso expressed gratitude to the Government and people of China for their help. "Friends are known in trouble. In difficult times, when Ecuador faces problems, China is always the first to lend a helping hand and support Ecuador," he said.
Chinese Ambassador to Ecuador Chen Guoyu said that in difficult times, such as the coronavirus pandemic, China and Ecuador have always supported each other and overcome difficulties together. Recently, Quito suffered from flooding, China promptly donated funds for the prevention of the epidemic and household electrical appliances to the victims, which was another demonstration of fraternal friendship between the countries.
The transferred equipment, including washing machines and refrigerators, will be received by 100 families affected by the disaster. Earlier, the embassy donated a batch of N95 masks for the flooded area.
On January 31, flooding occurred in the north of Ecuador's capital Quito, killing 28 people and injuring more than 50, Xinhua News reported.
