Hong Kong lawmakers have passed a law banning the sale of electronic cigarettes and tobacco heating devices.

The government of this special administrative region of the People's Republic of China stressed that the law is aimed at protecting people's health, since such products contain harmful substances, writes TASS. 32 legislators voted in support of the bill, three against and two abstained. Health Minister Sofia Chen thanked lawmakers for their support and said that the Hong Kong government intends to reduce the smoking rate in the city to 5%. According to the minister, the law will come into force in six months.
