The Organizing Committee of the 2022 Winter Olympic Games in Beijing has decided to allow athletes who have been vaccinated with Russian drugs against coronavirus to participate in competitions, the organization reported on October 4.They clarified that vaccination with all drugs recognized by the World Health Organization, relevant international organizations, as well as officially approved countries or regions is permissible. To participate, you must complete a full course of vaccination.
Dmitry Svishchev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth Affairs, said that such a decision of the organizing committee is a manifestation of China's friendly attitude towards Russia.
"The fact that China has taken such a step and that at the Olympic Games our athletes will have the opportunity to take part in competitions with Russian vaccines, of course, is a step forward, recognition by our Chinese neighbors of our medicine, vaccines and a manifestation of friendly attitude towards our country," TASS quotes the parliamentarian.
On September 30, it was reported that foreign fans would not be allowed to attend the Winter Olympic Games in Beijing. Tickets will be sold only among residents of China. These measures are planned to be introduced in order to ensure the safe conduct of the Olympics.
