Chinese schools in regions with medium and high risk of coronavirus infection will postpone the start of the school year to a later date. This was reported on Thursday by the Xinhua news Agency, citing a representative of the Ministry of Education, Liu Peijun.

According to him, the prevention and control of the spread of COVID-19 will be the main priorities in the upcoming semester. The school authorities and local authorities have been instructed to carefully prepare for all possible scenarios of the situation and ensure a gradual and safe start of the school year.

There are 1,812 people infected with coronavirus in hospitals in China, 527 of them are asymptomatic carriers. Since the beginning of July, the number of residential areas with a high epidemic risk has increased from one to 159. Officially, 730 local cases of infection (including 150 asymptomatic) have been registered in the PRC. Due to the rapid spread of the virus across the regions, the government recommends that residents make as few trips between cities as possible, at the same time, large-scale testing of the population for coronavirus is being carried out in a number of regions of the country.
