US President Donald Trump considers computers and phones assembled in China to be a greater threat to the country's national security than the TikTok app. He stated this in his first interview with Fox News channel after the inauguration.
When asked to comment on information that TikTok could allegedly pose a security threat, he stressed that there are many things made in China in the country that pose a more serious threat. He also expressed doubt that it is important for the PRC to spy on young people who watch crazy videos.
TikTok was blocked in the United States in 2024 by decree of President Joe Biden. On January 20, after his inauguration, Trump signed a decree designed to delay the blocking of this platform in the United States for at least 75 days. He also stated that the United States should be entitled to half of TikTok.
