Xinhua News Agency has published data from the Hainan Migration Service on the number of tourists in 2024. According to the office, 2.14 million people visited the province without a visa, which is 238% more than in 2023.
Almost half of the travelers came to Hainan from abroad, the migration department said. The share of foreign tourists was 47.5%. At the same time, most of the visitors took advantage of the visa-free regime, Xinhua writes.
Travelers from 40 European countries, including Russia, 11 Asian countries, 6 countries of North and South America, as well as Australia and New Zealand, can now visit Hainan without a visa. By 2025, the provincial authorities intend to turn it into an international center for tourism and consumption.
