This was reported by the Financial Times newspaper.

According to the publication, the Chinese authorities have seriously taken up demography. So, as part of a public campaign, representatives of local authorities are calling women of childbearing age asking if they plan to have children, the Financial Times writes.

In addition, Chinese women are offered to undergo an examination and attend a medical consultation, and in some cases they promise to provide a subsidy for the birth of a child. Also, according to the Financial Times, recommendations have been sent to universities in China to introduce courses for single students dedicated to creating relationships.

China has had a "one family, one child" birth control policy since the 1970s, and the population has declined by 2.08 million people by 2023. Chinese President Xi Jinping called for promoting the formation of a society focused on the birth and upbringing of children.
