The head of the Vatican greeted the Chinese audience and blessed all those present. According to the Vatican News portal, several dozen believers from China were present on the square during the pontiff's address.
Earlier it became known that in October China and the Vatican extended the agreement on the appointment of bishops. Now their candidacies are being coordinated with the Pope, and the extension period has been increased from two to four years. According to experts, about 6.5 million Catholics currently live in China.
