China opposes double standards and selective application of international law

Левая

This was stated at a briefing by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian.

China opposes double standards in international law, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a briefing, commenting on the US reaction to the decisions of the International Criminal Court on the arrest of the Prime Minister and former head of the Israeli Defense Ministry, as well as a similar decision regarding the Russian president.

Lin Jian stressed that China has always advocated that the ICC adhere to an objective and fair position, exercise its functions and powers in accordance with the law. He also recalled that the PRC is against the use of international law by individual countries for their own purposes.

The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry also pointed to Washington's use of double standards in the settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on the international platform of the United Nations. The United States single-handedly used its veto power to block a draft resolution on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, thwarting the efforts of the Security Council and the international community, he said.
