The work of the two countries on a strategic partnership began in July 2023. In autumn, Georgia decided to cancel the visa regime with China. The visa-free regime for citizens of the state came into force on May 28.
Elections were held in Georgia on October 26. They were won by the ruling Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia party, which received 53.9% of the vote. All opposition parties that have entered parliament refuse to recognize the election results, some declare their intention to boycott the work of parliament.
