China to impose duties on brandy from the European Union

Бренди

This will be done in response to the EU's imposition of tariffs on electric vehicles from China.

The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China announced that it will impose duties on brandy from the EU from October 11. To sell alcoholic beverages in China, European suppliers will have to pay an additional amount of 30.6-39%.

At the beginning of 2024, the Chinese authorities initiated an anti-dumping investigation and found out that brandy from the European Union was sold at low prices. The Ministry of Commerce concluded that this threatened significant damage to Chinese alcohol producers.

Duties on Chinese electric vehicles were introduced on July 4, 2024. The European Commission has set an interval from 17% to 36.3%. As an exception, tariffs on Tesla products were reduced, which was immediately regarded by China as an act of protectionism.
