A memorial ceremony for the fallen heroes of China's national and revolutionary struggle was held on September 30 at Tiananmen Square in Beijing. Chinese President Xi Jinping took part in it.
At the beginning of the event, the national anthem of China was played, after which the participants observed a minute of silence in memory of the heroes of the Great Campaign and those who, after the First Opium War, gave their lives for national independence, prosperity and welfare of the Celestial Empire.
The ceremony was attended by veterans, senior members of the Communist Party, military officials, representatives of 56 nationalities living in China and all sectors of society. The participants of the event laid wreaths and bouquets of flowers at the monument to the national heroes.
