Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, head of the Office of the CPC Central Committee's Foreign Affairs Commission, will arrive in St. Petersburg on September 11-12 to participate in a meeting of high representatives of the BRICS countries in charge of security issues, Mao Ning said.
The representative of China received an invitation to attend the event from the Secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergei Shoigu. The participants of the meeting will exchange views on the international security situation and major international and regional issues.
The Chinese Foreign Minister will also conduct preparatory work for the meeting of the leaders of the BRICS countries, which will be held in Kazan at the end of October. China looks forward to working with BRICS partners to strengthen the organization's strategic partnership and actively contribute to maintaining peace and security around the world, Mao Ning stressed.
