"Heavy to torrential rains are expected in the city on July 24-25, with heavy downpours possible in some areas [of Beijing]," the municipal flood and Drought Management service said in a notification. Citizens are advised not to leave their homes unnecessarily, and organizations are instructed to take measures to prevent threats from rampant elements. The State Headquarters of China for Flood and Drought Control has introduced an emergency flood response regime also in the nearby province of Hebei (Northern China), writes TASS. "From Wednesday to Friday, heavy rains are forecast in Beijing and neighboring Hebei Province, up to torrential," the ministry said in an emergency message. It is recommended that local authorities "carry out appropriate preparatory measures and check drainage systems in cities, agricultural lands and fish farms."
