Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Astana accompanied by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the head of the secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Xinhua writes. The summit of the Council of Heads of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member States will be held on July 4.
Xi Jinping expects an opportunity on the sidelines of the Astana SCO summit to discuss with partners the prospects for organizing and developing cooperation in the interests of new achievements of the SCO as a significant multilateral platform, the Chinese leader said in a written statement.
The Chinese President also stressed the unique status of the eternal comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan. Xi Jinping also plans to visit Tajikistan as part of his foreign trip, Xinhua news agency writes.
