A section of the third ring road in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh was named in honor of Chinese leader Xi Jinping, Fresh News writes. The highway was named after the President of the People's Republic of China in gratitude for his historical contribution to the development of Cambodia.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said at the opening ceremony that relations between the two countries had reached an unprecedented high level thanks to the care and support of the Chinese President and Cambodian leaders. China not only supports Cambodia's socio-economic development, but also strengthens the kingdom's political independence, the head of government noted.
Hun Manet called the new road the embodiment of the historical heritage of the traditional friendship of Cambodia and China, along with Mao Zedong Boulevard, which has existed in Phnom Penh since 1965. Xi Jinping Boulevard has a total length of about 53 km and connects the capital with Kandal Province.
