The strategic cooperation between China and Iran will continue, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari. The meeting took place on the sidelines of a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member countries in Astana.
Regardless of how the situation changes, Beijing will continue to strengthen Sino-Iranian strategic cooperation, protect the common interests of both sides and continue to work for regional and global peace, Wang Yi said.
The Chinese Foreign Minister also expressed support for Iran in connection with the death of the president. He stressed that he is confident in the ability of Iran's spiritual leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to steadily advance the established strategy and maintain the stable development of the country.
