According to the service, more than 10 provinces in northern China were hit by sand and dust storms, mud rains and strong winds. Heavy rainfall is also reported in the southern provinces.
The main period of exposure to the sand-dust front will be from March 27 to March 28. The northern and northwestern territories of China will suffer the most, forecasters say. Dust storms are expected in Gansu Province, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, the megacities of Beijing and Tianjin, as well as in Inner Mongolia.
At the same time, torrential rains with hail, thunderstorms and gale-force winds will cover large areas of Central, Southern and Southwestern China. The population is advised to take measures to protect housing and property and not to leave the premises unnecessarily.
