This was announced by the official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying.

According to the Kremlin, we are talking about the construction of new Russian-designed power units at the Tianwan Nuclear Power Plant and the Xudapu nuclear Power Plant.

Moscow and Beijing have long been cooperating in the nuclear industry. In China, with the participation of Russia, four power units of the Tianwan nuclear power plant and a demonstration fast neutron reactor (CEFR) were built.

Two more units at the Tianwan nuclear power plant and two at the Xudapu nuclear power plant are due to be built soon.

The Tianwan nuclear power plant is the largest object of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation. The first and second blocks were launched in 2007, the third in 2017, and the fourth in 2020.

In June 2019, Rosatom and the China State Nuclear Industry Corporation signed a contract for the construction of the third and fourth power units of the Xudapu nuclear power plant in Liaoning Province. These will be Generation 3+ systems with VVER-1200 reactors.
