The earthquake was recorded in the northwest of the country, in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, the report said. The tremors were recorded at 12:33 local time.
The epicenter was the territory of the Aksu district, where about 2.7 million people live. The earthquake was centered at a depth of 10 km. At the moment, there is no information about the damage and casualties, according to the Chinese Seismological Center.
Recall that in December, an earthquake of magnitude 6.2 occurred in the west of China, as a result of which more than 130 people were killed and more than 150 buildings were destroyed. In the disaster area, some water, electricity, transport, communications and other infrastructure facilities were damaged.
