Xi Jinping, at a meeting with the head of the European Council Charles Michel and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, stressed that his country and the EU should respect and support each other and seek joint development.
According to the Chinese President, the EU's Global Gateway initiative can be combined with the Chinese concept of "One Belt, One Road". He also noted that China and the EU should strengthen ties and coordination at the UN, in the Group of Twenty and other multilateral formats, and adhere to multilateralism.
The 24th EU—China Summit is taking place in Beijing. The previous meeting in this format took place in 2019. The events were supposed to last two days, but the program was shortened due to disagreements in the European Union over Ukraine.
