According to the Department, the number of tourists from the Russian Federation who came to Hong Kong in January – September 2023 increased 55 times compared to the same period last year.
In percentage terms, the growth rate was 5,414%. In total, about 27 million people have visited the metropolis since the beginning of the year, by the end of the year, according to experts, this number will exceed 30 million.
These are the highest figures since 2018. During the pandemic, the number of tourists fell sharply – in 2020, only 3.6 million travelers visited Hong Kong, and in 2022, experts recorded only 604 thousand arrivals.
