"The parties, having discussed the prospects for increasing cooperation in the regulation of interethnic relations, expressed their focus on the development of bilateral contacts, and also signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the State Committee for Ethnic Affairs of the People's Republic of China," the message reads.
The interlocutors discussed interdepartmental cooperation, as well as prospects for establishing business contacts between subordinate organizations of the two state bodies, the press service added.
1.6 million ethnic Kazakhs, citizens of China, live in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China. Earlier, international human rights organizations reported on the oppression of ethnic Kazakhs in China.
