This was reported by the press service of the city Committee for tourism development.
"At the thematic stand of the city, organized by specialists of the Congress and Exhibition Bureau of the Committee for Tourism Development, visitors will be able to learn from representatives of the largest tour operators, hotels and cruise shipping companies about all-season St. Petersburg tourist offers. Russian experts will talk about new projects, including the ongoing St. Petersburg Hospitality program for guests from China, as well as about the possibilities of obtaining an electronic visa," the message says.
The Congress Bureau organizes a media event for Chinese tourism industry specialists, including a presentation of St. Petersburg's tourist opportunities and a working meeting.
The tourist market of China is considered one of the priorities for Russia and for St. Petersburg. Before the pandemic, the share of tourists from China among all foreign visitors to the city was about 20% (951 thousand out of 4.9 million foreign tourists). On August 1, 2023, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia announced the launch of a visa-free tourist exchange with China for organized groups. The PRC is also included in the list of states that are subject to the e-visa, and is the leader in their number. Thus, according to the data provided by the committee, more than 15 thousand Chinese travelers have issued electronic visas for trips to Russia in 1.5 months, writes TASS.
