A direct flight from Moscow to Sanya on Hainan may be launched in October

A direct flight between Moscow and the city of Sanya in the southern Chinese province of Hainan may be launched in October this year, both Chinese and Russian air carriers have shown interest in performing flights on this route.

This was reported in the Department for Tourism Development of the city of Sanya, responding to a corresponding request from a TASS correspondent.
"As for the work to promote the opening of the Sanya - Moscow flight, it is at the final stage. Hainan Airlines, Aeroflot, China Southern Airlines and other airlines have positively expressed their intentions regarding the opening of the flight. Currently, the airline moving the fastest in this direction has submitted an application for approval of the flight schedule and is undergoing other work related to the permit. If the approval process goes smoothly, it is expected to open in October," the ministry said.
Earlier, the head of this department, Ye Jialin, expressed hope that direct flights from Moscow to Sanya could be launched before the end of this year. He also named Russia as one of the key markets in the field of tourism.
Recall that before the spread of COVID-19 and the introduction of all relevant restrictions on border crossing, Russia was among the top three among the countries that sent tourists to Sanya the most. For example, in 2019, the city received about 300 thousand Russian tourists. Direct flights between Russia and Hainan have not yet been restored, tourists are forced to get to the island with a transfer through other cities in China, writes TASS.
