head 0s830x553The Chinese parliament has approved a law to combat the irrational use of food.

The document was adopted at the session of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and comes into force on Thursday, April 29.

Chinese leader Xi Jinping said that "the phenomenon of waste in relation to food is appalling and distressing", and ordered to promote the principles of moderation in food among residents. The Chinese president called on people to develop a sense of shame for "wasting food and pride in saving".

In the social networks of the country, the "Clean Plate" campaign was launched, which has already been joined by millions of people – users share photos or videos with empty plates, demonstrating that all the food was eaten. The Chinese authorities urge to pay special attention to the education of children with a careful attitude to food.
