In China, a full-scale study of the Yellow River basin begins

Scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chang'an University are embarking on a full-scale geological and hydrological study of the Yellow River Basin.

This was reported by the Xinhua news agency on Tuesday.
The comprehensive program provides for the collection and systematization of environmental data. The results of the study are used to create practical recommendations for improving the condition of the Yellow River Basin. In accordance with the plan, "it was decided to systematically conduct geoecological, hydrological, biological, socio-economic, as well as cultural studies" to obtain a complete picture using modern surveillance systems and technical methods, the report says.
The researchers also plan to improve the flood control system and minimize damage from natural disasters based on the collected data. Reports on the work done will be sent to the administrative authorities with recommendations for taking appropriate measures.
