Drilling of the second ultra-deep research well has begun in China

838277Chinese specialists have begun drilling the second research well in the country with a depth of more than 10 thousand meters.

This was reported by the Xinhua news Agency.
It is specified that the design depth of the well is 10,520 m. It is located in the northwest of the Sichuan Basin, the main gas producing region of China. The project is being implemented by the Chinese company PetroChina, experts expect to find an ultra-deep natural gas field during drilling.
Scientists hope that the results of drilling operations will also shed light on the history of the formation of the basin and help accelerate the development of new technologies and equipment for the oil and gas industry in China, the agency notes.
This is the second project for the passage of a well with a depth of more than 10 thousand meters, implemented in China. At the end of May, drilling of the first such well began in the Tarim basin of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the north-west of the country, writes TASS.
