"China is ready to continue to strengthen cooperation in relevant areas with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and provide support and assistance to other developing countries within its capabilities," the Chinese leader said. Xi Jinping stressed that China is committed to comprehensively promoting the great revival of the Chinese nation through modernization with Chinese specifics.
"We will never follow the old path of national strengthening through domination, but we will work with other countries to achieve common development and contribute to building a human community of a common destiny," Xi Jinping assured. China, he continued, is ready to carry out extensive scientific and technological innovation cooperation with the countries of the world, actively participate in promoting measures to respond to global challenges such as climate change, the fight against epidemics and public health.
Gates, in turn, spoke about the promotion of cooperation with China, his vision of the future. China, he noted, has made progress in reducing poverty and responding to the coronavirus pandemic, setting a good example to the world. In recent years, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and China have established good cooperation and made significant progress, the entrepreneur said. China's acceleration of innovation and development, according to him, is beneficial to China itself, developing countries, and the whole world.
He assured that the foundation strives to further strengthen cooperation with China in the fields of innovation, global poverty reduction, public health, research and development of medicines and agriculture, as well as popularization of successful experience and technologies in developing countries.
The meeting was attended by the head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Politburo member Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, writes TASS.
