The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced the opening of the Consulate General in Chengdu by Turkey

USCN HOUSTON 200725 12The Republic of Turkey on Tuesday opened the Consulate General in Chengdu (the administrative center of Sichuan Province, southwest of China).

This was reported by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"I believe that the establishment of the Consulate General [in Chengdu] will become a new bridge for [strengthening] Sino-Turkish friendly ties and mutually beneficial cooperation," Wu Xi, Director of the Consular Department of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, stressed at the opening ceremony.
She added that the Chinese authorities are intensively promoting the "One Belt, One Road" projects, creating favorable conditions for practical cooperation with Turkey.
A statement issued by the Chinese ministry clarifies that the Consulate General of Turkey in Chengdu will "create more opportunities to promote cooperation at the regional level." It emphasizes that Sichuan Province intends to deepen cooperation with the Turkish side in all directions.
According to information published on the website of the Turkish diplomatic mission in China, Ankara and Beijing established diplomatic relations in August 1971. Until recently, as noted, in addition to the Turkish Embassy, three consulates General operated on Chinese territory - in Shanghai, in the city of Guangzhou (South China) and in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
