This was announced by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Broadcasting and Sports of the province.
According to his data, 26.8 million tourists visited Hainan in the first three months of this year (an increase of about 20%). The tourist segment of the region, as the agency reported, "demonstrated a rapid recovery." In general, the growth rate of the entire service sector of the province, as follows from official data, for this period amounted to 7.7%.
According to the calculations of the Chinese Internet company Meituan, the number of search queries with the word "Hainan" on its sites in January-March increased by about 80% year-on-year. As for the leading resort city of Sanya in China, its indicator has increased by 60%, and the city of Wanning on the east coast of the island, which is often visited by surfers, it has doubled.
In parallel, consumer demand for Hainan goods and services has increased. Thus, the volume of orders in restaurants in the administrative center of the province - the city of Haikou - increased by about 40% in the first quarter, and the volume of retail sales - by 20%. As noted, a noticeable increase in supply in this sector was recorded throughout the province.
According to a survey conducted by local media among the owners of shops, restaurants and other commercial establishments of the island, the number of visiting tourists using the services of these establishments has increased dramatically. During the weekend on the occasion of national holidays, up to 80% of visitors are guests of Hainan.
From the data obtained by Xinhua, it follows that an increase in the flow of tourists is observed not only in the large and most famous settlements of Hainan, which are considered traditional centers of tourism, but also in the counties of the province, where consumers can find new interesting tourist products. According to the forecasts of the authorities, the improvement of the economic situation in the first quarter is "a good start for further intensive development" of the region, writes TASS.
