The Bolshoi Theater may go on tour to China in 2023

According to Mikhail Shvydkiy, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cultural cooperation, "the Chinese public and Chinese institutions are waiting for it to be possible for Russian cultural institutions to return again".

The Bolshoi Theater's tour to China may take place in 2023. The Mariinsky Theatre's tours to this country are also not excluded, Mikhail Shvydkoi, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for international cultural cooperation, told reporters on Thursday.
"China is opening up. This is a huge space for cultural exchanges, because both the Chinese public and Chinese institutions are waiting for it to be possible to return to Russian cultural institutions again. I think that even this year the Bolshoi Theater will go there," Shvydkoi said.
He explained that Chinese colleagues want to invite Russian ballet dancers in connection with the opening of a new theater stage: "The Bolshoi Theater in China opens a new stage in October in one of the districts of Beijing. They want to make a big cultural event out of it and want artists from Russia to be the first," writes TASS.
