Participants of the joint naval exercises of South Africa, Russia and China will work out the fight against pirates and response to natural disasters. This was announced on Monday by the Minister of Defense and Veterans Affairs of the African Republic, Thandi Modise.
"The planned exercises will benefit all participating countries, as as a result they will be able to increase the interaction of their fleets in responding to natural disasters, in improving navigation skills and in combating piracy," the South African government agency South Africa News quotes the minister.
"These exercises are an opportunity for us to further strengthen ties with Russia and China," she stressed.
The first such trilateral exercises took place in November 2019 in the waters of the Atlantic near Cape Town. This year they will be held from February 17 to 27. The zone of the exercises this time is the coastal zone from Durban to the port of Richards Bay in the northeast of the country, writes TASS.
