China's GDP growth rate from 2020 to 2022 averaged 4.5%. This was announced on Wednesday at a press conference by Yuan Da, head of the Department of National Economy of the State Committee for Development and Reform of the country.
"From 2020 to 2022, China's economy showed an average annual growth of 4.5%, which is about 2% higher than the global average," Xinxya news agency quoted him as saying.
He drew attention to the immutability of the fundamental indicators underlying the country's long-term economic growth and the strengthening of the influence of positive factors. Given these circumstances, China has the confidence, the necessary conditions and opportunities to further maintain overall economic growth in 2023.
On Tuesday, the State Statistical Office of the People's Republic of China reported that the growth rate of the Chinese economy in 2022 fell to 3%. GDP reached 121.02 trillion yuan (about $18 trillion), an increase of 3% year-on-year. If we exclude 2020, when China's GDP growth rate dropped to 2.2% due to the outbreak of the pandemic, the current 3% is the lowest since the end of the Cultural Revolution in 1976, writes TASS.
