2fea0a0f512d17b80f0590c9c30f3801The Hong Kong administration will retain broad autonomy, and will continue to adhere to the principle of "Hong Kong is governed by patriots."

This was stated on Thursday by Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang during a meeting with the head of this special administrative region (SAR) of China John Li.
"Beijing will continue to adhere to the principle of "One country, two systems", will allow Hong Kong residents to independently manage the metropolis with a high degree of autonomy, fully implement Beijing's jurisdiction over the region and the principle of "Hong Kong is ruled by patriots" for the sake of long-term prosperity and stability of the SAR," RTHK radio station quotes him as saying.
The Premier of the State Council also called on the Hong Kong administration to actively strengthen the region's status as a financial, commercial and maritime logistics center.
The head of the Hong Kong administration, John Lee, arrived in Beijing on Wednesday to provide a report to the central government of the People's Republic of China on the situation in this special administrative region. It is expected that one of the topics of discussion will be the prospects for easing quarantine measures on the border between Hong Kong and neighboring Guangdong Province.
John Lee, who worked for many years in the police and law enforcement agencies, became the new head of the regional administration on July 1 of this year. He was the only candidate for this position, writes TASS.
