The central theme of the forum, as noted, was multilateral cooperation in accordance with the provisions of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative, as well as the intensification of scientific and technical cooperation between the countries of the region with the involvement of the Hainan Free Trade Port. The event also discussed such important issues as China's foreign policy strategy in the face of major changes in the international arena, the development of ocean resources.
In recent years, several research structures have been established in Hainan to explore opportunities for expanding cooperation between the PRC and the countries of the region. The Central Government of the People's Republic of China plans to actively involve the province in the projects of the Maritime Silk Road Initiative of the XXI century. Among the important areas of cooperation that are expected to contribute to economic growth and strengthen stability are cooperation with Southeast Asian countries in the field of fisheries, the implementation of joint programs for the development of public education, environmental protection and coordination of efforts to conduct effective rescue operations at sea, writes TASS.
