Russia and China have worked out joint actions of warships and aircraft during the strategic command and staff exercises "Vostok-2022", Russian Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said at a briefing for foreign military attaches following the results of the exercises.
According to him, the special feature of the exercises was "the joint use of aviation, warships of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China."
Fomin clarified that as part of the maneuvers, in particular, "the application of massive fire strikes, conducting defensive and offensive actions in the interests of defeating land, aircraft carrier and ship strike groups (groupings) of a conditional enemy" was worked out.
The general added that in the central part of the Sea of Japan, during the maneuvers, an episode was played out to search for and defeat naval groups of the enemy's naval forces. The search and destruction of enemy submarines, the organization of all types of defense of a joint detachment of warships, the reflection of enemy air attack strikes and the defeat of an amphibious detachment at sea crossing were also worked out in the sea ranges, writes TASS.
Fomin also said that, in general, the use of a coalition group of troops was worked out during the exercises. "The exercise was conducted in two stages. At the first stage, the trainees clarified the decision on the use of troops in a strategic operation, set tasks, and developed documents of the operation plan for further actions. At the second stage, we worked out the issues of managing troops (forces) during the repulse of aggression against the Russian Federation, the use of a coalition group of troops and the restoration of the territorial integrity of the state," the deputy minister said.
