In the period from March to July 2022, China increased purchases of oil, gas and coal from Russia by $15 billion compared to the same period last year. This was reported by Bloomberg on Monday, citing data from the Main Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China.
China continues to rely more and more on Russian energy carriers, the agency notes. From March to July 2022, China purchased $35 billion worth of oil, gas and coal from Russia, while during the same period in 2021, China bought $20 billion worth of Russian energy carriers, Bloomberg points out. In July, China imported 14% more coal than in July 2021, the agency added.
On August 20, Reuters, citing data from the General Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China, reported that Russia remains the largest oil exporter to China for the third month in a row, overtaking Saudi Arabia. In particular, in July China received about 1.68 million barrels of Russian oil per day. In total, since the beginning of the year, Russia has exported about 48.4 million tons of oil to China, writes TASS.
