More than 2 thousand specialists took part in the forum of seed production in Hainan

The forum participants discussed promising areas of scientific research and proposed areas of cooperation between business and scientists.

About 2 thousand scientists, experts and representatives of the agricultural industry took part in the forum of modern seed production in the southern Chinese resort of Sanya (Hainan Province). This was reported by the newspaper "Hainan Zhibao".
Within the framework of the forum, 13 conferences were held, which were attended by 15 academicians and more than 170 other experts. A total of 148 reports were presented during these events.
According to the newspaper, the forum participants summed up the results of the development of breeding and seed production in China in recent years, and also discussed promising areas of scientific research and suggested areas of cooperation between business and scientists.
In addition, within the framework of the forum, a thematic exhibition with a total area of more than 5.5 thousand square meters was held, in which 50 companies participated. They presented new promising varieties of vegetables and fruits that have good taste qualities, and also contain a large amount of vitamins and other useful substances, can be stored for a long time and have low requirements for temperature conditions, packaging or transportation methods.
The Yazhou Agricultural Science and Technology Cluster in Sanya was established in 2019. Its total area is about 70 sq. km. More than 7 thousand resident companies are registered there. The agricultural park includes the Nanfan agricultural breeding base: to date, scientists have been able to bring out more than 20 thousand new varieties of crops there, which is about 70% of the national indicator of China.
