The Chinese authorities consider it necessary to unite the efforts of the international community to counter the unscrupulous pressure of the United States and its interference in the internal affairs of other states. This is stated in a statement published on Saturday on the website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
"If we do not pay attention to [Washington's] interference in our domestic politics, this world will return to the laws of the jungle, and Washington will use force even more unscrupulously to suppress other countries," the Chinese ministry quoted Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who spoke to reporters in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. - We cannot allow the United States to take such steps again (meaning the visit of the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan - approx. TASS). All countries of the world should unite and prevent this."
According to the Chinese Foreign Minister, Pelosi's recent visit demonstrated that the American authorities do not pay attention to the position of other countries, which, in connection with the encroachment on their own sovereignty, constantly express protests to the White House. "The United States is grossly violating its obligations, seriously undermining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait," Wang Yi stressed.
According to him, the exercises of the People's Liberation Army of China conducted around Taiwan are "transparent, professional, take into account both national legislation and international legal norms." "We will firmly defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country, in no case will we allow the United States to manipulate Taipei to deter the PRC," the Chinese minister summed up.
Pelosi's trip to Taiwan, which took place on August 2-3, provoked sharp criticism from China. As a result, Beijing imposed sanctions on Pelosi and her family, and suspended the work of several Chinese-American intergovernmental mechanisms. In addition, on August 4, the Chinese army began large-scale military exercises with live firing in six waters adjacent to Taiwan, they will last until noon on August 7.
